Diamonds/playoffs
Players,This is a reminder the orange caps for the magnetic bases must be buried down to the base (4” below grade) so the fields can be groomed each week. Burying an inch deep actual damages the cap and the base when the groomer hits it. Please make an effort to bury these as deep as possible to avoid breaking this expensive investment.
The RA center has also asked if I can remind everyone to take empty beer cans away vs disposing in the garbage; as it causes problems in the community.
For those who are new to the league and those who forgot, the year end tournament will be held the weekend following labor day (Sept 11) with playoffs starting Aug 30th week.

Players,I apologize for the date change however the umps have asked if I could move the date to Aug 14/15 weekend. Please let me know if you are interested in placing a team in the tournament.

Next Upcoming Tournament
July 6th, 2010Players,
On Aug 7 / 8 I will be hosting a slo-pitch tournament in North Gower which is open to anyone; so friends, family and co-workers are welcome to play. Other leagues from around the area will also be invited however I am trying to cap the tournament at 16 teams based on a first come registration. Unlike last tournament I will not be making teams, however anyone interested in playing I will gladly pass your name on to other teams who may be looking for players.

April 29th 2010Welcome everyone to the start of the 2010 ball season.
I want to thank all the people who have helped me prepare for the 2010 ball season; it is a lot of work and only possible with great support.
There are no major changes this year except the runs per inning has been reduced from 7 to 5. This is a trial to help speed up games, however captains will be collecting the feedback from all players in a couple weeks and the long term decision will be based on your feedback wrt remaining at 5 runs per inning or returning to 7.
Obviously the RA center can not sanction drinking at the ball diamonds, however based on community complaints and feedback from the police to the RA center; we need to reduce visibility of our extra curricular after game drinking. The decision this year has been to encourage cans vs bottles to eliminate the beer caps and broken glass we leave behind. Hopefully this is enough so we don’t ever lose this privilege in the future.
This weekend we are hosting another clean up party at the diamonds as we paint the washroom walls, stalls, floors and the canteen. Please let me know if you can volunteer to help and we will work out details. I am thinking we can start near 11am on Saturday for a couple hours, and same for Sunday if needed.
